Launching a smartphone designed for creators

The Sony Xperia 5 is a triple-camera beast, boasting a 16mm super-wide, a 26mm wide, and a 52mm telephoto – and packed with other technology such as Eye Autofocus and 10 fps burst shooting!

We produced videos and photos which were shared on multiple posts across Sony UK’s social media channels to millions of people. Our video proved incredibly successful and became Sony UK’s most viewed video within the past 3 years.

Jamie Barrow GB Snowboarder broke the world record pre 'Stay At Home' in January 2020 for the fastest speed on a snowboard, being towed behind a vehicle driven by Niki Faulkner on a frozen lake in Norway. Opting to use the Alpha 7R III and the Xperia 5 for video and the in-car shots, the super-wide 16mm lens was perfect for the interior of the car to capture both their reactions. Inspiring the next generation of phone users

We had been tasked with translating Sony’s new vision which placed the Xperia 5 as the leading phone for all aspiring content creators.

Creating content to wow a global audience

Our mission led us to the mountain peaks of Switzerland. Not only did we make content with the Xperia 5 smartphone itself but we also used Sony’s Alpha series to capture the phone in different environments.

Using a smartphone to film a documentary

What better way to show the capabilities of a smartphone than to use it to capture a new feature-length documentary? Rigged up inside a Tesla, we utilised the phones compact size and ultra-wide-angle lens to capture some unique in-car shots.

Formulating a Cross-Platform Social Media Plan

We liaised with different departments throughout Sony to create a formulated plan to best utilise the content we had created.
